  • KiwiSDR production status and availability

Generally out-of-stock now except for a few here and there and some board-only versions at Mouser. But telemetry reports 75 Kiwis are in final test at Seeed. So more on the way.

@KB8DOA: I have emailed Seeed asking why RS didn't (apparently) receive their order of 5 units from the last build. I can't understand why that situation is so screwed up.

Back in stock at ML&S now.

  • New links: rx.kiwisdr.com, map.kiwisdr.com, snr.kiwisdr.com, forum.kiwisdr.com

  • OV display time adjustment needed

That doesn't fully effect indicator persistence which is what I think Rob is asking for.

  • Bent power jack on KiwiSDR board

Spend a minute or two with an ohmmeter verifying that the replacement is indeed constructed with the same pinout as the original. We know from sad experience that the Beagle & Kiwi don't survive polarity reversal.

  • Bent power jack on KiwiSDR board

If there is a manufacturing quality problem then Seeed support should really replace/swap the board. However, the connector you want is called a "DC-044". I found them on Amazon US by searching in the "Industrial & Scientific" category. Example:

  • v1.419,423: added non-NBFM squelch

    v1.419 November 8, 2020
Added a simple RSSI-based squelch for the non-NBFM modes.
See audio tab of control panel. Based on Christoph's squelch from kiwirecorder.

Don't expect too much from this squelch implementation. It's not a VAD or anything. On the audio tab move the squelch slider fully left to disable (default). Two squelch values are stored separately: one for NBFM and another for all other modes (except DRM which doesn't need it).

For the non-NBFM squelch the slider represents dB above the median of a number of past RSSI (S-meter) values. There is also a menu of "tail" times -- additional time the squelch is held open before being closed.

The speaker icon now has a third color, white, indicating the squelch is closed (hence no audio). This in addition to red (muted) and green (squelch open or disabled).
