Thanks, I see the donate button. I will have to do something like this. What do people think about installing the setup in a pump house for well ? It will be easier than installing cables in the attic, but I may end up going to the attic. Not sure yet. The Antenna will be the Bonito FX 10 Meter Loop.

  • I'm looking for UPS to keep the Kiwi's on too and to alert me if there's a power cut so I can log in and monitor the battery capacity left in the UPS. I would probably need pure sinewave which adds to the cost. Battery backup to the Kiwi's is goo…
  • I had a recent power cut which corrupted both of my Kiwi's, after setting it all back up again only one appears on sdr.hu despite saying success when registering. It does show up on http://rx.linkfanel.net/ so there must be an issue with sdr.hu.
  • A delay sounds good , thanks for all the replies everyone !
  • Thanks for the reply JKS, yeah I was thinking it was more of a PSU issue but the linear is too clean to change it, pity. Would it be possible a clean UPS exists ? this would be even better if it were cheap enough although I could probably live with…
  • WA2ZKD, the large complex , which is 2 properties to the left ? that's another Farm.
  • Powernumpty, work away, there's people using it for 5 hrs at a time , not that I approve but I don't want to impose limits but it might have to come to that.
  • Go to both Kiwi's and check out 75 meter broadcast, and look over to 80 meter Ham, zoom in/out until you can see the two bands and look at 3.9 Mhz, this is the QRM I'm talking about , now compare to the Loop, it's almost non visible. Nice to be able…
  • Powernumpty, LW performance of emerald is seriously effected by emerald1 SMP, but, don't ask me how in the Hell it does not effect emerald1 is beyond me the one it's actually plugged into. I'm using this SMP while I'm waiting for my Linear PSU. …
  • WA2ZKD , the local times for the noise is around 8:55 PM - 1:55 AM. QTH is Carlow, Ireland.
  • Actually I discovered I had an networking issue and had to set up both Kiwi's again, so basically the two URL's, emerald and emerald 1 were pointing to the one Kiwi, resolved now , it should say which Antenna's are in use so emerald has the Bonito M…
  • I have my other Kiwi online now with the Bonito MegaLoop FX, it's ( 10 meters of loop ) emeraldsdr1.ddns.net:8074, and the other is emeraldsdr.ddns.net:8073 The noise is like something that's on a timer, it's really strange, timers don't usually go…
  • Haha yeah, pretty cool. Now if I could find that source of QRM from 8PM - 1am UTC I would be very happy.
  • Hey guess what ? I got a phone call in work, it was the power company at my house, "I'm here to investigate the interference to your radio" hahaha So I pointed him to the new pole and cabling and told him that's thanks to Mother Nature :-…
  • Ah go on you can do it, think of all the money you're making muhahahaa :-)
  • Good exercise trying to pick stations out of noise ? lol yeah , not sure about exercise but can be fun, it would be nicer to have better quality audio for Dx'ing and for general AM listening. I have my 2nd Kiwi ordered and Linear PSU on the way :…
  • Indeed Powernumpty, it was amazing luck for the storm to knock out the specific pole :-) It's quiet as a mouse mostly during the day but around 20:00 UTC it starts and at 1:53 AM UTC like clockwork every night it's gone. You can hear it around 80 …
  • Hi again Guys, Remember that pole to the right with the transformer in the pic above ? well as luck would have it, a storm came last week and the tree in the pic fell on top of the pole snapping it haha , that was about 10 am, by 6 pm a new pole an…
  • I'm talking about Audio compression in general, while having the "comp" option helps a lot with higher frequencies the lower end suffers a lot. Higher quality/fidelity. Options like 16 Kbps, 32 kbps, 64 Kbps, 32000 sampling rate, 44100 …
  • Yeah I see some of the joins in the cable at the transformer end, perhaps it was moved. Could be an issue alright. @Powernumpty , no dairy at this Farm but because it's usually quiet as a mouse at night it leads me to believe it's load related mos…
  • What threw me off originally was that the noise can be constant for many hours, then nothing so the last few times I went shaking poles was when the noise was continuous and it made little difference, perhaps a few spikes when shaking some poles. …
  • No not related to rain, today is dry. But It's very intermittent, so I went on the hunt again starting at the pole in my garden, shaking that, nothing. Then I went into the field beside me and shook the next pole, nothing, to the next pole and buzz …
  • I could or try shake it, some have stay wires that make shaking easy. It's so strange because today it's quiet as a mouse. It's fantastic. It's pretty windy too and making no difference so it's not wind related.
  • Haha , yes I'd have some explaining to do to the Farmers crossing their land with a sledge hammer !
  • Thanks for the replies everyone. The noise is hardly noticeable now at this time today, what it was like earlier I do not know as I had no time to check. Yesterday it was very bad and it effected several bands I just used 11331 Khz because it was…
  • emeraldsdr.ddns.net:8073/admin Check out the above link to my SDR, I think it's pretty quiet. The absolute greatest thing I did was to eliminate some filthy dirty switch mode power supplies such as the one powering the Kiwi, the Antenna is powered f…
  • Thanks for the fix, appreciate the hard work with all the updates. Kiwi is a really fantastic SDR.
  • At least on Android you can keep audio running in the background from the browser, on ios you can't. Screen locks, boom, gone . Ridiculous !
  • Just kick starting this thread again, if anyone out there can write an app to be able to connect to Kiwi SDRs for Apple devices. Again, as I said before Apple will not allow streaming Audio from browser once the screen is locked.
  • I also have issues with the timer, I regularly see people 3-8+ hrs. I've a 2hr limit. I have to boot people off which are using it unfairly.
  • Thanks for that, yes restoring Chrome to default settings fixed the issue, this is strange. I did not have to do it on the MAC it just started working again after I tried it again last night but I had to restore to default on my work laptop.  Thanks…
