I'm based in sunny Napier, Hawke's Bay, NZ. I use my Kiwi to indulge my SWL / DX hobby. Nothing too serious. I work in IT and have had a long interest in electronics and radio - which makes me sound like a complete nerd :-D On the flip side, I have…

Ah ok - cheers. Thought I was going bonkers ;-)

How much storage do you need?
-
are you able to rate limit any of that traffic?
-
Is it worth standing up a private git? I might be able to help as I have a proxmox cluster in Auckland.

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19876#Comment_19876 Yeah - I set this up recently - bit of a learning curve - definately not for the novice.

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19834#Comment_19834 Are you sure an LM317 is the right choice? The current that the Kiwi needs is a constant 1A and reaches 1.5A+ you might want to look at an LM350 design. I purchased one …

seemed quite unusual across so many bands, and the transmissoins we so close to each other I really couldnt pick them out with the CW_Decoder.

Yeah I was in two minds about their nationality. Was finding them difficult to pick

The location of an IP is supplied by the ISP. Its basically meta data. It possible that the location in formatoin that the Kiwi pulls its IP Location from isnt present. However in saying that if you go to https://www.iplocation.net/ip-lookup you c…

If a 3D print is your preferred method, spray the inside with an RF sheilding paint like: https://mgchemicals.com/products/conductive-paint/conductive-spray-paint/rf-shielding-paint/

I purchased another one for my sins. I’ll get something better when the finances permit.

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19703#Comment_19703 I have one of these camped on my radio for many hours. I really should put a time out on it. ;-)

I'm liking the ideal of the 303wa-2. Thanks all!

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19674#Comment_19674 Did you have any filters before entering the Kiwi or just straight into it?

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19674#Comment_19674 Ah yeah, I had forgotten about this - nicely made Japanese antenna.

Ooh nice one! Thanks for all your efforts! Although I haven’t been here all that long it’s much appreciated. [jks: edited to remove mention of competing products -- please read the "forum rules and etiquette" post]

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19668#Comment_19668 Thanks, Martin, I also plan to install my KiWi on one of our high sites in our WISP network. Not so far that if it breaks its not a drive on for a hours on a dirt road, ho…

Never mind, someone introduced me to NZ Post YouShop

Well, interestingly, the pot on the amplifier itself did nothing noticeable with the signal strength or noise, however the pot on the Bias Tee has the most dramatic effect. I assume the Bias Tee pot is LNA gain and the pot on the amplifier is IF gai…

Ill give it another tweak tonight :-)

I found that the gain control on the bias tee had the most overall affect, however it did increase the noise. I'm not on SNR 22/16 dB which is a big step up from under 10. The control on the antenna had the least affect. I may have wound up the bi…

I wound up the gain on both the antenna preamp and the Bias Tee. The Bias Tee is quite sensitive, and ramps up the noise floor, so its a balancing act. I'll keep tinkering, however I can now decode DRM signals I couldnt before, due to lack of signal…

I'm considering some kind of multiplexer and have two ML-30's so one is north-south and one is east-west orientation.

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19620#Comment_19620 Ah of course an end fed is unbalanced... Yes, its an ML-30(+) however I havent messed with the gain controls. Ill have a look tonight. ;-) Thanks Sean

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/19615#Comment_19615 Thanks Martin. I am primality looking at an RX antenna for my KiWi. Low noise would be great. Techminds use an end feed balanced antenna when comparing against other on…

The output is 13.8V 1.5A, and the DC output is 5V 2.5A. The transformer does run warm, however its a comfortable temp. The DC stage is one of these. For the price, I couldn't buy the parts locally cheaper.
