Finally got back to this with good results on both kiwi1 and a kiwi2 With Buster (debian 10), the key as noted by njc is to disconnect the network cable. and as noted above, it is necessary to install headers: package linux-headers-4.19.94-ti-r42 …

I've been downloading the eibi database using the process described here: https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/17081#Comment_17081 particularly the eibi2kiwi_online.py script, saving as the stored database. This give you co…

This seems right to me. I had to change the number of ports in the s4a driver to 5 for my s5a on my kiwi1 and it worked, slowly (as noted in past posts). It interesting that using the web server built into the box is much quicker. Perhaps it…

Thanks so much. I'll be busy for a couple of days with other stuff, but will report back. This all looks very helpful. Eric

thanks both. with this install, the compilation went fine (although it took a while) I am able to connect to the wireless nicely, but have problems when I reboot the kiwi/beagle https://forum.kiwisdr.com/uploads/755/LVBNLKWP9BHD.png Is there anyth…

Nick: Thanks for the clear instructions. I tried, and when I get to the make step, the following happens: make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/4.19.94-ti-r42/build M=/home/debian/RTL8811CU modules make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.19.94-ti-…

After figuring out a little python installation, this is very useful. Thanks for this, and for sharing the code

Useful and fascinating discussion. What is pictured above, an emi filter? If so, which and where can it be ordered? Thanks.

I would have interest in one.

Getting back after quite some time. This does work, but slowly. I changed the antenna number to 5, and the ip address in the code. It takes about 4 secs to change. Using the direct control to the latency is more like a second. Thanks so much f…

Thanks, Ben and JKS. While I was about to try converting the print statements, I see that jks has done it. This is great, since I don't 'do' python. I gave that version a try, and it works, and will experiment with kiwirecorder.py. My goal is, …

I just have placed an order for one of these and will explore when it arrives in a month or two. If you make progress in the meantime, I'd be all ears! Thanks

Thanks so much for pointing this out. I will read much more carefully but this kit was installed in a kiwi plastic case (no shorting....) and died during a time with very little thunder activity (Late october). I'll investigate.

Now you tell me! I won't click further, most everything seemed inoperative when curiousity got the better of me.

Now that the forum is accepting comments, I can share how I got the kiwisdr back up. Thanks to the tips from JKS and WA2ZKD, I tested the BBG alone. It appeared like the BBG ethernet was not functioning. Replacements are backlogged, but I manag…

Thanks JKS and WA2ZKD. Tried booting without the cape and a 1amp 5v supply. Still no lights on the ethernet on either the router or BBG side. Tried additional cables. My guess is that something is wrong with the BBG ethernet. I could try…

I understand that this will establish if the BBG has a problem and/or test the power supply. I does generate a question: How do you power the BBG stand-alone? This is a SEEED beagle, and I only see a micro-usb port. Does a standard micro=-sb out…

Tried a 2.5 amp which showed a 5.2v output, same result. Of course, maybe there is a drop during startup, but its not apparent. Very much appreciate your suggestions.
-
No controls. Would that make such a difference to connectivity? Eventually I could hook up another supply.... at least a switcher to check....
-
Thanks for the response. First, it it was updating, wouldn't I seem network activity on the ethernet switch? There seems to be NO activity About power. Its a 5 volt, 2 amp Acopian 2 amp supply, and its now delivering 4.9v across the power suppl…

Wow, terrific. Really increases the fun. One thing that is super, that I didn't see at first is that each of the markers has 'hover' help showing really useful information for broadcast stations. Thing like language and target. One *really sm…

Just a note that a couple of months ago I replaced by fried by lightening Kiwi using OnlineComponents and the transaction went smoothly (full kit). However, I just checked now and they do not have it listed as far as I can see. Too bad, they shi…

FYI, the beagle was toast as well. Appreciate the advice. Eric

Thanks John. Sad, I know. Did quite a job on several things in the neighborhood, but I think this may have been the worst. Eric

Thanks so much for suggestions.. Sorry was traveling for the first time in 15 months, so pitures delayed. Strange going through security, etc. Attached is an image of the board, Note damage at J2 as well as the inductor near j5 largely des…

Just tried SAM. Pretty impressed. Syncs like my old Sony 2010 did. One application that is handy is to pick a sideband. Right now 9420 has heavy rtty qrm in am, but is quite easy to copy on SAU, much better than on USB. The ability of synch…

I see an improvement. Kuwait @15110, 1309UTC intermittent decoding with S5 signal.
-
About WINB. Strong signal @9265 at about 1140Z. S9+10. Tune to 9267.2 and trim lower sideband (see attached screen shot) and get a solid signal, although I can't say I enjoy the programing. My experience is that you usually need a S9+ signal …

I am impressed that I can decode Kuwait on 15110 @1245Z. Signal on s-meter in am mode is s-5 max, yet sound very good.(Image)
