Sitting my Ham license :-)
So after having an interest in Radio for most of my adult life, I have finally got the study guide and doing a cram course with the local NZART club here in Napier and our local colledge (EIT)
If anyone has any good online references, that would be appreciated. I think I have a decent amount of inherent knowledge, however there is still some to learn. (like the rules and regulations).

Who you are, where you are and what are your KiWi's ?
I'm based in sunny Napier, Hawke's Bay, NZ.
I use my Kiwi to indulge my SWL / DX hobby. Nothing too serious.
I work in IT and have had a long interest in electronics and radio - which makes me sound like a complete nerd :-D
On the flip side, I have a youngish family (even though I am now 52 - I started late) and still listen to grunge.

Antenna Considerations / Do's and Don'ts
Hi All,
I am considering my antenna options. While my cheap magnetic loop does a good job, there are many signals such as DRM that need a bit more gain - otherwise they simply don't work.
This seems quite reasonable for the price, an end fed long wire with a 1:49 balun. And covers 1-30Mhz.
What other considerations should I be thinking about before leaping? Attenuators, Filters, other options.
I have a reasonable size section (good old kiwi 1/4 acre). I also have access to a good sturdy pole, as we are a WISP here in the Hawkes Bay, and have some nice poles that can be mounted on a pad.
Anyway, looking for a little guidance to an age-old question. However, it does help when there is so much information and advice on the internet but no real clarity on what to use.
