Need to talk with someone who knows: RPi / CM4 / RPi OS / PCIe / SGMII+SFP
I'm (finally) doing research on RPi. Specifically the CM4.
There's bound to be someone on the forum who has significant knowledge about the ecosystem. For efficiency I would really like to trade a few emails with you asking some very specific questions that otherwise might take me a much longer to get answers to. If you've used the CM4 in a volume OEM application I really want to talk to you about your experiences.
Also PCIe and SGMII+SFP (GigE) issues.
Please email support@kiwisdr.com if you'd be willing to chat.
Thank you in advance!

Dear John,
working in audiovisual and musical production in France, I frequently use Raspberry Pi microcomputers, notably the Pi 4, for very specific functions.
- For example, I need to generate IceCast streams, or streaming relays, it's perfect. I was able to make 1500 simultaneous connections (broadcast of radio programs) at 128Kbps, on a single Raspberry Pi 4, 8GB of RAM.
- Another example, reading an audio stream and transforming it into audio, analog or AES3-EBU output.
- Full duplex codec for the transmission of live radio reports.
- I use another Raspberry as a file server (8 or 16 TB), or as an Apache server.
On Apple Mac too, the FFMPEG-FFPLAY library is very interesting.
I am not a specialist, because I abandoned computer programming (C) 30 years ago. But I manage to do what I want. And it's totally reliable and durable to meet the demands of the professional broadcast environment.
As for optical fiber, I will have to carry out a 24-channel transmission at 12G over 400 meters (video et audio), very soon, in 6 months. It's a big film music recording auditorium project that I'm developing at the moment. If you are interested, I will describe the solutions chosen. This is still under study.
Best regards, Philippe
