GPS Question

my location is Suffolk County, NY.
the external GPS receiver is located outside on the west side of my single story house (on 12x12 flat metal surface, five feet above ground), so GPS signals to the east are attenuated as a result.
the GPS receiver has a good view all around elsewhere other than to the east (because of my house), you can see the attenuation in the attached picture.
the question has to do with the attached picture - GPS signals to the north - this curve, is this simply the northern "pole" where the GPS satellites dont actually cover or is this something else ?
edit - id have to assume that is what i am seeing in the photo, i just wanted to confirm my suspicions with someone else.
