  Bit more info:  I found a update.cpp and tried the wget in the 'check update' section:

  Looks like my ISP (Virgin Media UK) DNS  was out of date .. I've changed to google's name servers and wget now works ... time to try and update!

  We had another customer in Australia with this same problem: local ISP (Telstra) had a bad DNS cache entry for raw.githubusercontent.com It was resolving to a completely incorrect address!

  I should probably add some code to detect that situation.
