I ran through the instructions a couple time and I still get this: (Image) Any ideas? Steve KD2OM

Online I have found that a BeagleBone Green with Wi-Fi can be purchased for $59 from Seeed, I wonder if this would be better than using a usb adaptor?

I wonder if a case made of mu-metal would improve things. Or maybe this: https://www.amazon.com/Woremor-WMF200-Magnetic-shielding-Radiation/dp/B01HDL0M8S/ref=pd_sbs_328_4/141-4464432-6544547?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HDL0M8S&pd_rd_r=4c8a176…

Very nice work Martin. Really excellent workmanship especially on the 15 pin connector. I thought the RF connectors needed to be isolated from the case, it looks like this is unnecessary. I assume the brass screen could be mounted on the outside an…

I have only seen a few of these hits but have added the iptable rule anyway. Better safe than sorry.

Jack Smith told me that it has more gain than any of his other amplifiers. Remember it is a shielded mobius loop which has lower gain. I would power it up with small signal on the input and measure the output while tapping on the components and or h…

Is the preamp potted? Maybe you can find out what the problem is.

This is the choke that I use. I have one on both of the KiwiSDR's I have. http://rx.jimlill.com/cmca.pdf

What made the difference for me is the 350 foot beverage antenna. At the moment it uses a KD9SV transformer and a 450 ohm termination. I don't think the transformer is the best for such a low frequency so am going to wind a transformer with a core t…

Thanks Martin, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Since I use RG6 coax with F connectors as the antenna feed, the easiest way to ground the coax is use a CATV grounding block.

This afternoon, I replaced the bbg with a beaglebone black I had lying around, now back on the air. Contacted Seeed but haven't heard from them yet so ordered another green from Mouser. Steve KD2OM

My KiwiSDR also stopped communicating with the LAN sometime yesterday, 23 May. No lights on the Ethernet port but the watchdog led is blinking fine. It has been working for a year. Not very happy:( I will contact Seeed about repair. Steve KD2OM

Same here with 1.93

Thanks John.

Martin, I agree. I think part of the problem is that the antennas are only a few feet off the ground and I believe both use the feedline as part of the antenna. The feedline to a multi-section choke is only three or four feet long. I believe the co…

I like your setup. I like the antenna as well. I see the same thing as I do on mine, the noise floor rises as you go higher in frequency. I will start changing supplies, I hate switchers anyway. 73 Steve KD2OM

Yes Kari added it very quickly.

Hi Martin, I am looking at the full range 0 to 30 MHz. You are correct, there should be no change or at least not much. Too much would suggest poor shielding of the coax or ground loops. I notice a small increase in the noise floor at higher freque…

Thanks John, I will do so.

I am not sure what discone you are using, but if it is a 30 MHz to 2000 GHz for instance, the amp will increase the noise on your system. You said previously that you sit in a depression, HF really doesn't care much about that, only line of sight fr…

Unless I am missing something or that is the wrong link, the antenna is for 144 and 450 MHz. The KiwiSDR only receives to 30 MHz. Unless you have a pretty big discone, it won't work very well at HF. As to the amplifier, the gain isn't so much a f…

Thanks JKS and ZKD, I will give it a try. Steve KD2OM
