  • Okay. So it seems the 66 MHz XO (U402) is not running. Very strange that would fail. But it also sounds like the FPGA is okay given that the sig gen works. But the ADC is probably dead. It would be interesting to know if any of its 14 outputs are sw…
  • 24 hours later, more tx delay changes. Fallon NV in the X slot, Havre MT in Y. https://forum.kiwisdr.com/uploads/592/2JEN1YLLD4B1.png
  • I have a fix for the masked frequency leak. But it needs some UI feedback in the camping panel so you know why your audio all of a sudden went quiet..
  • I noticed that if the user who I had piggybacked on disconnected, I also got dropped. What do you mean exactly by "dropped"? If you mean the audio stopped then that can be a correct outcome. If you mean the connection to the Kiwi closed th…
  • Oh wait, I can think of something. The eCPU and SPI logic for communicating to the Beagle run off the 16 MHz GPS clock. But all the RF stuff (waterfall and audio DDCs) run off the 66 MHz ADC clock. So check the ADC clock on the board with a scope. S…
  • It's extremely strange that the Kiwi server is running (the web interface shows) and yet there is no waterfall. The server won't even start unless it successfully programs the FPGA and downloads the code into the eCPU on the FPGA and gets a response…
  • These both sound like corner-case bugs. I'll add them to the (already infinite) bug list. When the grim reaper comes calling for me I wonder if they'll have a look at my bug list. And decide I should live a bit longer because I'm already in a living…
  • Nice capture of all three sites from the VE6JY Kiwi in Lamont, Alberta. Note that Havre, MT has reduced tx delay, moving from the old Z slot to the X slot. And Fallon, NV overlaps the 9th pulse (primary station id) of George, WA. The MXYZ slot defin…
  • Good question. A few problems I can think of: I don't know the format of the data contained in the eLoran transmissions. Is it published anywhere? So far, these tests only run for a short period of time (months) every few years.
  • That's a good point. If the PMIC on the Beagle was effectively shorted then the CMC could certainly get hot. It's spec is DC resistance is 0.15R (0R15).
  • The Loran-C extension in v1.619 has a new menu entry for the eLoran test. It says GRI 5991 because that allowed me to change far less code to deal with the existing 5900 Caucasus entry. But of course the actual GRI used for the timing calculations i…
  • Thanks Glenn. I did not realize that.
  • Can the BB-Black be cooled passively if the PCBs aren't in an enclosure? Yes. I run BBB or BBG plus Kiwi board sitting horizontally on a shelf all the time without any issues. In an enclosed box it's a different story of course since there's roughly…
  • The CMC on the Kiwi is a bit undersized and can act as a poor fuse in some cases. "Poor" because it doesn't always cleanly blow open, but rather develops high resistance and the heating as you've observed. 4.4V is much too low. The Beagle …
  • Is this from trying to connect via a browser or via an ssh/PuTTY connection? If you Google this error message it's very confusing what's exactly being talked about. Lots of mentions of proxies and Windows-specific stuff. Can you ping the Kiwi's ip a…
  • Don't know. Looking carefully at the data from /snr might be helpful.
  • There is a bit of a problem with the current algorithm, in that if any frequencies are masked on a particular KiWi, the minimum signal level across that part of the spectrum is used as part of the SNR measurement, and the masked frequencies distort …
  • v1.616 fixes a problem that was possibly the cause of this.
  • Audio glitch problem should be fixed in the v1.616 update.
  • The list of reference stations is downloaded from kiwisdr.com by the TDoA extension. With a snapshot of the list contained within the server itself in case kiwisdr.com can't be contacted etc. This is so a change can be quickly made without needing a…
  • Yeah, I see what's happening. Fix soon..
  • Sure, "4 Hz" is not really that. Even digital filters will have all kinds of artifacts, side lobes and whatnot that creep in. But I have definitely observed cases where the S/N of CW signals are improved between the 60 Hz default of CWN an…

  • That should be okay. The idea was that all the necessary configuration would be stored in one directory: /root/kiwi.config
  • @DF3LZ Roland, were you able to get it working? We never received an email from you.
  • Do you really mean "overrun" and not "underrun"? Underruns are common when the Kiwi is overloaded and cannot supply audio data to all the connections on-time (under/over is from the perspective of the browser audio). Overruns mea…

  • So there are 5 public Kiwis using "Finnish DX-association" in their name field and also listed on rx.kiwisdr.com. Is the one you're talking about one of those or in addition to those? If it's not one of those please send its public ip addr…
  • You've got nice reception on LF/VLF. Here it is at 15:30 local. NAA/24 and NAU/40.75 are obvious. But also a weak NLK/24.8 Washington state and a trace of NPM/21.4 Hawaii. https://forum.kiwisdr.com/uploads/902/XZ5I7RSU1J9G.png
  • The only thing I can think of to explain this is that someone in your group is using different settings that would effect the noise floor. Like a different agc threshold setting or having one of the noise filters active.
  • Okay, I think I've fixed this. Typo plus bug in the main Makefile. Any future gclone/install should work now.
  • I've removed the ZKLF entry from the FAX database. So long old friend!
