Martin That conical radiator structure sits atop a ~1M high pedestal base which like the radiator is made like a battleship, literally. That base contains the matching network. If I get time, I'll see if I can find the network. -Jim

Martin... the conical I described is in this pix https://www.dropbox.com/s/onu50qk14ccihyh/20200103_104347.jpg?dl=0

do we forsee any other variations in "channel number and type" for the AI based systems?
-
Martin... No, not the D&M... the Marconi was a simple icecream cone skeletal structure. I'll have a photo when I get to work and find the one in the archive

the > 1.360 builds take 30+ minutes

Martin, That conical monopole is something I worked on 30 years ago and yes, it is a good antenna. They use(d) them on shipboard where there were many TX antenna and that small aperture as RX, isolated and split. Marconi and Harris/RF both offered…

I'll revisit antennas in the spring! While it is unseasonably warm here right now, it's also rainy. Snow will follow....
-
what type of PSU do you run to the bias tee (excuse me if this has been asked or stated before)
-
Does anyone has a Pixel Loop characterized? That would be easy to compare, even in the snow and cold....
-
no parameters, sorry. 3X8ft elements top and bottom. It is roughly the same as my Pxel loop on 475 KHz

My modified OE254 is neither a true biconical nor real small, but is compact and works well 630-10M. The picture below shows it during testing, it has since been raised up 8 ft. higher. (Image)
-
I have also found that I need to use larger core than you might expect for RX due to the high levels of energy here in the swamp. I use 1/2" 73 binocular cores.
-
my jimlill.com:8075 system uses a bi-conical of sorts, the pix will come up when you access it. I have a xfrmr, HPF, and LNA at the feed. I have AM Notch filters downstream. The "dipole" is balanced so I use balanced stuff to the preamp,…

Observation: coincident with the DRM changes I am suddenly seeing people connect and have the SSTV extension invoked, but places where there would never be SSTV... bug?
-
SAM=Synchronous AM, an AFC scheme essentially
-
when I just did it, the audio muted but the DRM screens did not appear. (v1.362)
-
IMO, there's something more than MW overload going on. I live in a MW "swamp" and don't see that, but I don't have a mini-whip. Is the amp in the antenna going into compression...?
-
Bug: DX Label allows selection of DRM but that doesn't fully get things going when you click on a logged station
-
when locked out, DRM mode button should be grayed and inactive
-
I like the multi-press mode buttons that access AMN, LSN etc. and look forward to SAM. Nice work and Happy Holidays John

No voice or music, but logged this at 1810Z on 15120 (Image)

WINB is in Red Lion PA and here is their current info: A new DRM transmitter, an ASI CE-50000WS, was installed in April 2018. The transmitter is rated at 15 kW and is using the Rhombic antenna at 062 degrees. The authorized schedule for this transm…

quad shield = "we found a way to make coax cheaper and it uses multiple shielding methods"

S units have been so misused over the years by the OEM, even when they are accurate they often get ignored. I prefer dBm myself!
