Action Report.... My 8075 box is running a BBAI in 4 chan. mode. With 1 ALE instance running, it uses more CPU than 14 ch of wspr on a BBAI I have W10/Chrome browser logged to the 8075 box, the W10 boxes only task. It has been collecting ALE acitivi…

I have seen it on my AI so that may be a clue on CPU mips or not. Also, I suspect there are a couple issues in play.
-
but yet my overnight run was OK. Perhaps other browswer use has an impact
-
I have been using this reference... http://ik4hdq.net/doc/10to30MHz.htm
-
Testing with Linux/Firefox now.... no issues yet Experienced same with FF
-
OK.... it scanned and decoded for 30+ minutes then stopped scanning (8075 system) Extension pop-up shows scan, but freq and waterfall is not changing Looks browser related ... refresh browser solved it (Linux/Chrome) 2139Z update. Happened again…
-
It worked OK on my system also...

With the waterfall timestamping added in 1.462, it seems like some visual correlation could be made between time and when a sweep crosses a frequency. However, finding a list of active sounders and their start time is needed and I have not had good…

I have a schematic for a better solution that uses PIN diodes.... I'll dig it out.
-
in the presence of BIG sigs, when those diodes conduct, they create new problems

The cyclic nature of spurs and noise can often be a clue. But your eye is often the best way to determine that, unless some external AI was applied. https://www.deepsig.ai/omnisig-sdk

I like to joke that I thought fading was part of Jazz.... none here https://youtu.be/yb_o1T9lMXo

No comment on the problem, but I am curious as to the location of the kiwi you were using and what antenna it uses?
-
During my previous effort to compare receivers, I captured wav files (at appropriate levels) and then in non-real time fed them to wsprd which is the standalone wspr decoder use din wsjt-x.
-
the audio for wsprdaemon stays digital the whole way. A WAV file is recorded and decoded by wsprd, the decocer that is p/o wsjt-x.
-
"all the kiwis" isn't quite accurate! I have 4 BBAI systems, 2 totally public, 2 with 1 channel public and the rest kwirecorder.py loaded A generous offering on my part as I have a lot of money invested. Other kiwi owners do too and should…

Unlike other SDR that use USB to connect to your PC, the kiwi uses your LAN. Common Mode Interference (CMI) has been shown to be a noise source and can be mitigated by use of ferrite. There's bad and good Switching PS, but hard to tell sometimes.
-
Both WA2TP and KD2OM, who amongst the top wspr reporters in North America, do it all with KiwiSDR. They run wsprdaemon external decoder systems. The kiwi internal wspr decoder can't handle big spot counts, not enough processing power.

CMI on the cables is a bigger issue than shielding in my experience. I have a cluster of 4 and KD2OM has 3.

re latency... adding a way to add offset at the client end would be fully adequate I think. I measured it here and in my local system, it is 2.16 secs. Thanks
-
How does latency affect the timestamp?
-
Looking forward to this being in an upcoming release.
-
my bad on the lack of temp on a non-BBAI... python has a tmon module that may work for checking its temp. But it should sounds like it's other than temp. My BBAI hover just above 40C when the WX is warm without issue BTW.
-
you can check the temp here at the bottom of the stats page http://forum.kiwisdr.com/uploads/635/HOO8VW6N5TOU.png
-
you need LPF and HPF to prevent the duplicate signals from each antenna from nulling each other.
-
I hope this idea makes it in.... with the SSN rising, people like to sit ond monitor.. but I'd like to guard against "all day camping"
-
From a webpage or some app

OK... may be a wsprdaemon thing then... although I'd not seen it prior to an upgrade to 1.460
