Mark.... your giving up the overhead stuff by that "sideways" aim. Put an old tin pie plate on a sidearm, as long as the antenna coax permits, and face it up.

The eastern variants of those shore stations are scarce, if any (?). My KiwiSDR in Maine provides good omni coverage in the NE http://rx2.wa2zkd.net:8073/

I have had a old Pi as a Stratum 1 ntp server for years. I used an Adafruit module and all the computers in my house use it as the primary server.

the open/open case does not need a fan

I have done 6 of them and always just followed the instructions at the very start of this thread, and had no issues

Within the HF industry, WBHF generally refers to that which is described here, http://tracebase.nmsu.edu/hf/MIL-STD-188-110D.pdf, or another scheme developed in France. HFT, in which the words High Frequency refers to stock trading rather than rad…

how do the AGC timing values that a standalone kiwi uses compare to those of kiwiclient Found it var default_agc = 1; var default_hang = 0; var default_manGain = 50; var default_thresh = -130; var default_slope = 6; var default_decay = 1000;

I am aware of testing of eLORAN stuff in CONUS

do you have both 3.7 and 3.8 available on the same machine now?
-
I struggled with that and put project on hold... you are not alone!

In wsprdaemon... You could do a simple mod to excecute a script on schedule. It already knows about sunrise/sunset so you could doing something based on time . Or, you could mod it to run a script on every cycle and check for sunshine and act.

reduce the antenna less and see what happens
-
what kind of antenna?
-
I have successfully used Christoph's combined stream technique but it's not something for newbies to try!

at the same time, eLORAN is being explored rather than have GPS be a SPoF.... !

someone persistantly listening on that freq is more than a fan IMO

this seems analog (?) (Image)

I have an Odroid XU4 running Ubuntu and wsprdaemon.... connected 2 each KiwiSDR/BBAI... 28 channels at once. Runs just fine.
-
The status of OpenwebRX has no impact on the KiwiSDR

I think you want to convert dBm to milliwatts before your calculation
-
dBm is an absolute quanity, referenced to 1 milliwatt. I think what you want is dB which are relative. You can adjust to any level of relative dB you want.

The better HF squelches use a syllabic technique but even that can fall victim to QSB. With the advent of Digital Voice, less non-hobby HF users need squelch as that is taken care of with the Vocoder.
