Ha one of the few reasons I kept a Windows box going was for a couple of Windows only SDR programs and my flex 1500 (that I never use). I hear talk of replacing the kernel with Linux, makes sense.
-
Chrome is a different issue - see other recent threads on Win10 popping. Not sure you could find an SDR further away than Iceland, well done ;-). Joking apart that is a few fiber links and lot of ms delay just for a simple connection. I'm not sure …

Well there could be network issues on the problem paths, I'm not sure where you are in the world but I see some people connect in to my SDR and get issues and leave not long afterwards, not all of the internet is routed robustly with the same type o…

How much RAM does the PC have, SSD or Spinning disk for the swap file(s)? Thinking about how large are the recordings? I.Q. for hours must be pretty big. My comment on RAM use was based on Firefox at various times having slowed down but it was norma…

Firefox running ~4 Kiwi's (how many other tabs), from task manager how much memory is Firefox using? From that description my process of elimination would be to reboot, fire up the main Kiwi's you use (note in what order) then start the recording, h…

@DazDSP OK I see now, the recent Win10+Chrome popping issues made me think perhaps it it was similar, so a more fruitful path would be to look at that current thread than an older issue that didn't seem to be provoking recent traffic. It was also p…

OK and I missed the OS was mentioned already (Doh) but this is Firefox so seems strange that most people with Win10 issues found FF OK.
-
@DazDSP you spotted that was a three year old thread? There have been Chrome issues (known bug, now cleared) on Win10 recently but Firefox was normally OK. Try another browser, mention what OS you run, see if anyone else can replicate your issue.

@jks I hear you on opensource trust/use and have see the 1:1.2 hardware cloning thing first hand elsewhere, the one good thing is the usual risible support for a clone, so commercial customers know that it is not about just purchase price and a coup…

The SSH thing is probably the ISP, in the UK the most common IPS's sell the "benefit" of a "clever" firewall that does that unless we sign wavers and forgo the hand holding. @Gibsonmb you probably can adjust the ISP firewall set…

Just for info jks (ZL) is about 11hr's ahead of us so response is more likely in his normal daylight hours. (nearly midnight there right now). Also wroth checking this forum early in the morning UK time. Thanks for the i2cdetect output, looks simila…

One quick thought Could you see what the result is of the command i2cdetect -l

I doubt you have bricked your SDR (listen if I still have my original working most people should be fine) Wait for JKS, or if the main man is busy, I'll have a look at my AI when home*, best not to turn this into a long thread with guesses. (*I thin…

At the risk of making John scroll too much the "can't read serial number from EEPROM" means something is stopping the software or BBAI seeing the cape. If you are sure you have plugged it in properly then confirm for me how you are powerin…
-
I think it builds OK but as part of the start up looks for a valid FPGA/serial so won't actually run the web interface without a cape. it probably shows something in /var/log/messages so "tail -f /var/log/messages" will give an updated vis…

Some external Ethernet devices can leave horrible spurs on HF frequencies so the option to force 10mb via the admin was added as that in some cases reduces low level local spurs seen with some hubs/switches. Gig speeds are unnecessary in this use an…

As I blathered before SDR Console did hit audio chopping on Windows 10 issues with virtually no systems load, high end PC's. Some users found they could reduce it by running a chrome session in the background loading the system. Simon looked into hi…

I assume you have tried holding down the boot button on the black while first powering?

Glad to hear you got connected. I'm a bit confused by talk of SDR Uno but I assume you have other SDR's. I have a Single SDR Play RSP1A but rarely use it now as I have got so used (addicted) to the Full-HF view Kiwi via "browser from virtually …

At a guess I'd say 4084, as the first and last look the same the range to try is limited ;-) 2082, 5085 etc. From the original PCB image the serial seems to be same way up as the silk screen. 73 Stu

FYI. There are micro SD card extenders, that would be a quick way to avoid opening the case. I know, not a clever answer ;-)

@HB9TMC For info what level is the Passband overload mute set to in your Admin Config page?

I've had the static/dhcp suddenly OK issue before, right pain to recreate. The networking on the AI does also seem to have some initialization steps that can confuse things (well me) too. It didn't like you "looking at it" that way and ga…

Have you set up port forward on your router for 8076 to 192.168.1.5:8076? Unless you are using Plug and Play that is an external step. Stu

I got it wrong my main laptop is Win 8.1 but I do have a Win10 I can fire up and let it update before testing. Just tried Brave on Win 10 home, no issue. Vivaldi chugged for a second or two then was fine. My Win 8.1 install is long in the tooth so a…

Eckhart try using audacity, that was how I captured it. For the record (excuse the pun) other SDR software has had a fair bit of audio issues with Win10, I looked into it assuming it would be an easy fix but went down the rabbit hole of "Change…

@WB4klj Yes a little with Brave, Waterfox seems smoother.

Observation / question. If I use a mobile on the local WiFi network I can camp on a user from the local network but seem unable to camp on external users - scrub that works again after browser refresh - Just tried again and it cleared, I'm not a mas…

Fantastic addition, many thanks.
