The MiFi probably acts as a router, I might be wrong when using the proxy options but I think you still need to tell the MiFi to forward port 8073 (whatever port the Kiwi is on) to the Kiwi. If it has PNP enabled turning on the "Auto add NAT ru…

WSPR mode? as many HF bands as possible, tiny bandwidth each RX, no waterfall, no SDR.hu remote connection or processor heavy tasks etc I think it is a great device, somewhat ahead of the minds of us users.

So far hotspot set up on iPhone, TL-WR702N reset and details for hotspot entered. Bar on iPhone says item connected then not a few times, walked away for coffee and to find something to put on the lan side (someone has wiped my test laptop, well tha…

I will try with the slightly older model of tp-link we have at work where there is an iPhone (6) spare. One thing I have noticed on iPhone initial wifi setup is they are more distance sensitive than Android so I wonder if that could affect it as a h…

John, On the WR802N I'd reset it, restart the iPhone then try. I have one in use here (client mode) on the second Kiwi (to Microtik AP) and it does need to connect to the right router MAC, I.E. I can't set it up for SSID "HomeWifi" on one …

Sounds like a networking check needed not giving up! Especially if you have access to a rural location that just needs that last few meters of connection. Some of us on here would love that sort of opportunity. Just let us know how far you get and I…

Looks like it is a single device through the lan port. It is important to ensure the link is good via that route (as you have) but I would then power cycle the extender so it sees the Kiwi as the only device. Power cycling the Kiwi as well is just e…

The issue may be as simple as the wifi bridge is only serving one item and it has that single item locked to the laptop, that is why I suggested power off the extender/bridge (and Kiwi) then power on the extender first with then the Kiwi. Without k…

Is the range extender in bridge mode? (taking the hotspot wifi and bridging that to the LAN port) if so, is it in single client or full on bridge mode (more than one client). I'd start by putting the laptop on the same network as the Kiwi (use a no…

Kiwi users anonymous. I started with just one, used to flick about the bands until someone mentioned the scope and changing the peak hold, I spent hours on that tracking down fleeting spikes, then came the noise chasing, I knew I had a QRM issue bu…

You're not helping. I do have spare BBG or two now I think about it, so just capes... BTW the voice sound like smeagol "It needs it, WSPR"
-
I'm not taking it too seriously as I don't want to tie up my Kiwi solely for WSPR but it is interesting to see grey-line band surges also when other stations and locations push ahead. (Image) Oh and whoever is beaming that "You need another K…

Understood, unless you have a real benefit it's all just acronyms and more stuff to familiarise yourself with. Here it's mainly about noise pickup, lots with copper, less with Wifi but I don't like running enough microwave power to reliably to get o…

Not directly but I'm currently using https://www.amazon.com/Converter-SFP-Transceiver-550M-ipolex/dp/B0716XT1QT with multimode fibre and Ubiquiti SFP module on the Mikrotik at the other end. I do also use the small 5-port switches https://mikrotik.c…

Actually I just looked a the test results and I'm wrong on the router performance. Might have to review where I have a CRS in use at work...
-
That is a bit older than I would go for. A good device but within your budget there are others that will offer more future proofing and performance, E.G. the newer CRS range. I would seriously consider getting something with at least one SFP port (h…

You can download and run the RouterOS to a PC/virtual machine to try it (fully operational 24hr limit), does look daunting to begin with but just amazing level of customisation. Keep notes, you could even do the test setup (like port forward) via th…

For some reason I dislike that 5xG/5x100mb default layout as it puts the WAN's on the faster ports, doesn't make sense to me, obviously easy to redo but for the Mikrotik "first time user" counter intuitive (IMHO). You did remind me of anot…

Another brand worth considering IMO is Draytek, they are normally solid and have a lot of the right features without the learning curve of Miktorik. To me the main things to look for are: Bind hardware to IP address (MAC binding/Static leases) mean…

Beginning to sound like a Monty Python sketch... 5m, 5m! my whole garden is only 5m wide, you've got it easy, when I was a lad they made us wind baluns with our toes, blindfold, while doing our times tables in Morse using only our forehead on a (sh…

OK that's surprising, mind you residential over the pond is often equivalent to UK's country estates ;-)

M0AQY is the only call I use, have fallen down the list a bit now but to be honest considering the real estate some people have access to I don't feel so bad with my bicycle wheels and bolts contraptions. I suppose I could use another SDR on the sam…

Could do but for preference would like to avoid uploading duplicate spots. I suppose I could use something that is transmitting microwatts in a digital mode a couple of kilometers away and decode it here on both, wouldn't help with the nulls but cou…

I do think it moves the focus somewhat, but in a good way. I've had a couple of shots at WSPR, ages ago, setting up single band antennas then finding the area had a very poor take off for that band or just hitting a quiet spell for another band/ant…

It's a little like shooting fish in a barrel now with the Kiwi, fancy adding 24/7 fully automatic logging for band X, edit a text file, save. Compared to the amount of effort previously needed to get good results it seems like cheating, maybe it is …

I had noticed my antenna set up was weaker on a few frequencies (previous loop anyway) so didn't bother to log those, with this layout it is interesting to go for numbers of spots regardless of lagging behind the guys with full size dipoles or tuned…

I'm not very competitive but did turn 20m back on to save scrolling.

A bias tee without feed is just a DC block no? Has more than one use, costs less (here), metal case. Downside - sticky-out dc feed but that's about it. You are right of course, I just like buying things that can be reused.
-
Looks like a good device but also maybe consider the cased Bias Tee devices on ebay, in the UK a metal cased 10MHz-6GHz bias tee is cheaper. The other use for those types is as high pass filters for the HF side, I was feeding a mast mounted vertical…

I asked the same question and the reply was along the lines of "no problem sharing GPS by T splitter". The only caveat is that both Kiwi's have to be powered on, turn one off and it kills the GPS reception for the other.
