That spectral filter makes distant stations so much less tiresome, excellent stuff. Just been listening to some interesting other viewpoints to the uniform UK MSM. I'd forgotten one of the pleasures of SWL.

Instructions = Very first post (in this thread).

sibamanna holds old data, mine is listed but as it was configured perhaps six months ago. To be honest I didn't know it was back up. I have emailed the guy in the past and he was quite helpful but I guess this is not something he gets enough payback…

100Meters is the standard Ethernet limit anyway so you would need to have decent copper guage to use it at that distance. I'd get a couple of a Ethernet to Fibre adapters and do it that way 100m is a lot of copper to pick up noise. Obviously once yo…

On the base thermal pad I would be surprised if it did more than about 10-20% of the required cooling. Thermal guides I referenced state there needs to be very good contact between the top of the CPU and whatever method of cooling used, as soon as t…

Anybody notice Europe (WSPR anyway) is fairly on fire today? solarham doesn't look too active but some stations are heading for 40,000 spots today. Of course my Grafana has given up since a recent dist-upgrade but the WSPR numbers are very unusual.…

I did think about that but was not sure if PWM was a good idea around a sensitive RF device. I'll be interested to see how you get on. One daft idea I use here for "extra cooling when the room is hot" is a 12V fan directly connected to 2…

Gwyn, I've just updated, hope that is correct now. I've been testing other radio bits and sort of negelected/ignored the WSPR side (as anything I moved in the garden dropped the spot count). Hopefully I'm not the last to update. Thanks for the fea…

Late Summer Ball?

I have not updated but did notice some change about 19:00 UTC yesterday. I was running a spot count, probably with some incorrect parameters but either way my noise graphs are still working but I had to revise that spot count (maybe something was re…

The ML-30 has an impedance mismatch that means there is a noise spike around 5MHz with the supplied loop, DSL creates loads around 15MHz so phone lines are an issue. That said for a balcony install your noise level is better than many. I don't think…

Hi Jim, Distracting Junk removed as I was on the wrong track The other possibility is that your ISP is blocking it with a new firewall (Comcast I think has been a recent one for doing that) Ah I see you may be on Comcast from the ping IP, I will…

Hi Mike, I've a Black Wifi (used off Ebay) and it was different to the BBG but fine from memory. I stopped using it due to frustration with the WiFi connection dropping rather than any EMI issues. I'm pretty certain many public Kiwi's are based on …
-
Yes, If you've a fairly recent black I'm 99.99% sure it will be OK. If you have a early one might pay to say how much onboard storage it has. You can of course try installing the software without the Cape. Make sure you source a good linear supply …

On the "over usb" thing maybe a data only, no power, USB lead would save having to power it up in any order.
-
Ah that explains something I saw where I shared a test Kiwi (Large YouLoop with ML-30 amp) and once I'd decided it wasn't worth being public or more tests I took it off the lists only to get loads of connections to that Kiwi for the next couple of d…

I've used the more basic TL-WR720 types and they work very well. It will be a bit more tricky than a simple three/four port router as all I was thinking was connect WAN to an ethernet lead if you have one (or need internet) and Kiwi/Laptop on the wi…
-
Personally I'd get a tiny ethernet router (E.G. RB931-2nD) that way you can still use the laptop, internet and leave everything on automatic. That router can be powered from USB. It is of course possible to set the laptop and Kiwi for manual networ…

Gunnar, The only other comment I'd make is Q.O.S? your ISP could detect streaming and load balance to that, the idea is everything "feels snappy" for browsing but it clamps streaming (P2P especially) traffic to a "contended" shar…

OK no idea on this but some questions: 1. can you look at bandwidth through your router (I.E. see if something else is loading the connection at the same time as these connections) 2. how are you recording your drop from 20Mbps to 2? 3. Are any loca…

I'd have to play with levels as normally I like more dark area. The basic sheme did seem a little sharp and high colour coming from say SDR-Console but I'm used to it now, so this looks a bit soft/flat compared. (Users!). Thata said I used to run …

When I was using Android for QRM tracing and test, the things I wanted were: 1. Frequency lock 2. Quick way to set the waterfall to consitent levels 3. A few spot frequencies Lock is excellent thanks. The other features could be covered by a few U…

Thanks for that Gwyn, it was partly in jest, so now one last attempt, manually typing over the values with the same (visual) value ...Bingo My error was that something about "time" was obviously wrong but showing no other errors, I eventu…

Later.. For my eyes (and using F-Lux) the light theme made spotting fields for entry much more obvious. I've made more progress your instructions than I ever have previously and actually quite like Grafana now. One Question - Heatmaps where does o…

You could use a reverse proxy like NGNIX to ssl the info, (using auto-updating LetsEncrypt cert). The bigger issue is the laughable nature of Chrome pretending to be looking after your data. "Cool story browser bro'" I don't think there …

Don't want to admit, I struggled with it quite a bit. I have zero experience of Grafana and virtually the same for SQL I think it would be a perfect task for a small video or even a screen capture image of what you are setting before the explanatio…

Hi Gwyn, Doh I should have tried that! Many thanks. My shaky history with wsprdaemon setup meant I was determined to follow the guide exactly.. Cheers Stu

On the Grafana set up I fail at the datasource "Metric request error" any obvious errors? I've tried a couple of times. Maximum version on the non commercial install (on Ubuntu) seems to 10 but I didn't think that would be a killer unless …
