  • Kiwi + Lightning

That reminds me of this video I shot of an LED connected to one of my antennas during a thunderstorm (sorry for the poor quality)

  • W/F and SND Bad Params

I'm 99 44/100 % convinced this bot script was the cause of the problem I was experiencing with several receivers not being available for use (since that problem went away when I started to block them).

I am not sure if this is related, but the radio related website https://www.hfunderground.com/board/ which I run was getting overrun with bots a few days ago. You get three chances to guess from where, and the first two don't count. Hundreds at a time, at one point I saw over 500. They have stopped, for now anyway, but I am seriously looking into figuring out how to geoblock China if it happens again. It's an ugly solution which I don't want to have to implement, but it's potentially an even uglier problem.

This is why we can't have nice things.

  • S meter extension - prevent clearing? [fixed in v1.318]

The s meter extension is a great tool, I use it frequently. One thing I do is take two readings, first a baseline on a nearby "empty" frequency to get an estimate of my overall background noise level, then one on the station of interest.

When I change frequency, the graph clears, which is probably useful to many users. Is there a way to prevent this? Sometimes it would be nice to see both signals on the same graph.

  • Real Time SWBC Shortwave Broadcast Station Schedule

This is a work in progress, but perhaps useful for some. It's an online real time SWBC schedule, driven by the EIBI schedule database.

You can enter in various parameters (country, target, language, bands, etc.), and see a list of stations currently on the air. More useful for KiwiSDR users, you can also enter a list of KiwiSDRs (saved via cookies for your next visit) and links to those KiwiSDRs will appear next to each entry in the SWBC schedules results. So you can just click on a link to be taken to that KiwiSDR, and tuned in to the broadcast.

In addition to SWBC transmissions there are also some utility transmissions and other broadcasts. Unfortunately the EIBI database does not have mode (AM, USB, etc) information, so the schedule makes some guesses based on the frequency, which is occasionally wrong for out of band SWBC transmissions.
