Issue with the local blacklist

Hi guys,

I might have an issue with the local blacklist since the last release.

I recorded 50.116.2.0/24 into my local blacklist few days ago since the 50.116.2.70 IP address was considered as a wrong connection.

Tonight my log is stil saying that this IP tryes to connect despate the local blacklist.

I am may be wrong in my understanding so I am joining snapshots about this.

Usually a blacklisted IP does not appear anymore in my log.

73 to all of you.

  • sorry for my english "despite" instead of "despate" and "still" instead of "stil"

  • 50.116.2.70 is the kiwisdr.com server, which can't be blacklisted.

  • OK

Sorry for my lack of knowledge about it.

But in this case why my system denies this connection ? (see my log)

  • I'm not sure...

What's your setting in "Number of simultaneous channels available for connection by non-Kiwi apps" on the "Control" page?

  • 4 all of them in fact

    Hi all,

Yes the TDOA_service is legitimate, it is the task that collect the samples when you use the TDOA extension (what a surprise ! ;-) ) to locate a station. When it goes well it stays 30s (or the other choices in the extension) as can be seen below in my /var/log/messages file.

The non-Kiwi app filter has been set by John a while ago to get rid of "ip trolls", but it's amazing that kiwisdr.com is considered as some of them ! May be a side effect of adding its IP to the blacklist ?

I checked that your antenna switch is disabled so it's not linked...

  • There is a setting on the admin / extensions / TDoA tab to prevent your Kiwi from accepting TDoA connections if that's what you want.

  • Hi,

not a side effect since I discovered this before I put the IP in my local blacklist.

Clarification : I noticed that the IP address of the kiwi web site is denied by my system and no this IP is not in my local blacklist anymore and yes the tdoa service is autorized to be used.

I keep an eye on the log to be able to see this behavior poping up again and keep you informed.

  • Hi, @F5LFE, Francis,

I did a test TDOA around 12:30 loc using your station, on Allouis 162kHZ. Very good result !

(see your log, you should see something vey similar to my image above)

Your station is among the best in F, would be very sad if we can't TDOA. ;-)

  • @F5AFY,

This time everything went well following your result and my log is OK.

My intention is not to stop the TDOA service, I was wondering why it was denied sometimes.

May be when all channels are busy with regular users ?

See your connection into my log :

Tnx for your nice words about my kiwi ;o))

    73 Francis.
