installing a second kiwisdr
Hi, I'd like to install a second Kiwisdr on my network. I'd like some advice on how to get started. A single modem is sufficient. Thanks

Hi @IZ0INA
plug your second kiwi into your router, and find its IP address. You could temporarily unplug your first kiwi then navigate to http://kiwisdr.local:8073/admin
Follow through the set up process and head over to http://kiwisdr.com/info/ and scroll down to the network section and select your preferred option.
If using John's proxy service read this:
http://kiwisdr.com/info/#id-net-rev
That should be about it.
Good luck, and shout out if you need any more help.
There's nothing special to do. Just hook it up and your DHCP server (your router probably) will assign it a separate local IP address from the first Kiwi. If you go to my.kiwisdr.com it should show up and you can connect by serial number or detected local IP address.
Don't forget you are going to have to assign it a different port number from default. If you want it to accessible from outside your network.
assign it a different port number from default
This is true in some cases. But not for the proxy service, which is enabled by default on Kiwi-2. This is due to how the proxy works. Initial contact with the proxy server is made by the proxy client running on the Kiwi making contact with proxy.kiwisdr.com. This occurs using a the usual randomly-assigned outgoing TCP port. The proxy server on kiwisdr.com never has to use the well-known port 8073 on the Kiwi. In fact, that's the entire purpose of the proxy. That incoming connection establishment on port 8073 is often blocked by the ISP.
If you setup multiple Kiwi to be know by a static public IP, or via DDNS, or a domain name etc. then you are correct.
i didn't know they were going to use the proxy server, I don't with my V2.
I didn't initially want enable the proxy service by default for Kiwi-2 (because of all the backend overhead/cost it incurs). But I got talked into it because so many people have Internet service with no incoming connections allowed these days (essentially anyone in the US and anyone on Starlink).
For future readers: The reason they needed to use a different port number for the second Kiwi (8074) is because they are using a domain name (kiwisdr-iz0ina.ns0.it) as the method to address their public Kiwi.
