Temporary Markers / Labels

I often find myself bouncing between a few HAM stations on a particular band, particularly 20mtrs where its quite busy.

How difficult could it be to place a temp marker on each frequency to click between them quickly, rather than clicking on the frequency and retuning. I would find it useful to right mouse, place marker, and have it expire when I close the browser.

  • Have you explored the existing user memory options ?

Although it does not place markers, it does allow you to quickly recall or skip between frequencies.

  • Hi Martin, yeah I use that too - I was thinking along the frequency ribbon like pins say.

  • Ah OK, like temporary user specific DX labels or were you something else ?

Yeah, but a quick pin, say if you are following a few different things within a band, or your view that you can add with a right click to the labels or even on the frequency ribbon.

In the below are three stations that I might switch between for a few minutes as the signals come and go depending on which side of the conversation I can hear. It might seem a little lazy not to click on each one, however I find that I cant always accurately click on them and sometime miss the transmission, especially far off stations. In the below I could just drop a pin onto the frequency and click between them without creating a DX label.

Unless there is a better way than what I am doing already and its just user education required! :-)

  • Oh I quite like that idea.

Maybe it could be linked to the user defined memories in some way too, and then perhaps a scan function could be added, with either timed or squelch controlled pause / resume.

However, I think John has more than enough to deal with at the moment, so I'd just leave it in the "possibly nice to have" future enhancement category / pile.

  • Related to this, it would be useful if the "auto-save" mode of frequencies had a time delay, so that every little tuning adjustment isn't saved. Maybe something in the 5-10 seconds range, or variable.
