W6LVP Amplified Receive-Only Magnetic Loop Antenna / Where to buy in NZ?
I've decided my MLA-30+ is fairly average, and It's really quite in expensive.
I would like to invest in the W6LVP, however, he only ships to the US and Canada.
Is anyone aware if they are available here in NZ or the AU? I've done some quick googling, however not much comes up.
Cheers
Sean

Never mind, someone introduced me to NZ Post YouShop
"I would like to invest in the W6LVP"
Also pretty average IMHO, I'd go for LZ1AQ, used Wellbrook or Cross Country Wireless.
Check out the Loopantennas IO group, ready built PCB's on offer at decent prices.

Thanks, Martin,
I also plan to install my KiWi on one of our high sites in our WISP network. Not so far that if it breaks its not a drive on for a hours on a dirt road, however its on the edge of town on a hill, hopefully away from most of the urban qrm.
Its mains fed with room on the shed to mount the antenna.
Ill take my current antenna up there with the KiWi in the weekend and see how it performs.
You can also try this passive vertical: ApexRadio 303WA-2.
I had a coax and wire version of the wellbrook that I compared it to and from my location, there was no perceptible difference in listenable signals even though the SNR on the loops were much higher.
Ah yeah, I had forgotten about this - nicely made Japanese antenna.
Did you have any filters before entering the Kiwi or just straight into it?
There was an extensive thread regarding the 393WA

I can attest with the 303WA, though it's a passive antenna, performance is great and it's not too expensive as well!
I prefer passive over active antenna to reduce failure points and simplify installation. An active loop will also amplify noise in the neighborhood and there is plenty of noise around my location. I have my 303WA-2 mounted on a 6-foot metal pole which is mounted directly onto dirt. I’ve also been experimenting with attaching radials and making the ground more conductive by watering the dirt, which actually seems to improve the signal strength a bit until the dirt dries.
I'm liking the ideal of the 303wa-2. Thanks all!
