  JJy from Japan? Propagation must be good because it is so cold outside?

  I don't intend to use your forum for a logbook, but these signals are new to this radio station.

  Those are Russian Alpha (RSDN-20) navigation system signals from Novosibirsk, Siberia and Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East. If you bring up the "integrate" extension and select the "Alpha" preset you'll see a little table that shows the signal timings. Excellent reception from Oregon. The only other west coast Kiwi reception of Alpha I know of is the UVic Kiwi in Victoria, BC.

  Yes, it doesn't surprise me that you're hearing JJY, the time station from Japan, on 40 kHz. I hear it here in New Zealand even in daylight sometimes which I think is pretty amazing. JJY on 40 and 60 kHz have the advantage of ID'ing in CW at xx:15/45:40. That is at 15 and 45 minutes plus 40 seconds past the hour it sends "JJY JJY" in CW before resuming sending timecode.

  
  

  With grey line conditions you might even hear the China time station BPC on 68.5 kHz.
