suddenly having an intermod issue

I've had this kiwi for a few years and has been just great. Within the last month I have been having strong Ix every 50 kc from an AM station about 5 miles away, a 50 kw non-directional. But this is sudden. And keeps flashing the 0V overload signal. Here's the thing though, I split the longwire antenna into a NOOELEC up converter to a websdr system. That does not see this problem at all. I put a 3db pad on the kiwi input and the problem almost completely resolved. Tells me the mix is happening in the kiwi. But why all of a sudden? Anyone else seeing this?

  • Is this a KiwiSDR 1 or a KiwiSDR 2 with the built in attenuator? Does this 50kW signal appear the same or stronger compared to what other local AM signals typically were at?

  • Did the problem occur after you split the Longwire antenna ?

It may simply be that the RF levels have changed, due to a different matching arrangement, or propagation has altered, driving the KiWi into Overload.
