Ethernet MTU values for 3/4/5G mobile (cell) connections
This is a list of known Ethernet MTU values required to make certain mobile (cell) connections work. With Kiwi release v1.819 and later MTU values smaller than 1400 are available in the MTU menu on the admin "network" tab. Please help us add to this table based on your experience.
Changing the MTU value has immediate effect -- no need to restart. So one strategy to find the highest working value (for best performance) is to make the admin connection on the local network and a user connection via a Kiwi proxy connection** or using a cell phone. Then increase the MTU value until the user connection stops working. Then select the next smaller MTU value.
MTU, Mobile operator, Router device
1344, EE Networks (UK)
1500, T-Mobile (USA), Teltonika RUT956
** A proxy connection, even if made from your local network, goes out the Internet to the proxy server and back in. So in this case it will traverse the mobile network.
