function for 20 or 30 minutes.

edited March 22 in Problems and Issues

I would like to ask you for information about a problem unknown to me.

It is a radio listener of my KiwiSDR, who writes to me asking me to enable the action function for 20 or 30 minutes. In practice I do not know what I can do, I ask you to kindly suggest the necessary operation.

Thank you very much

Perhaps they are asking you to add a connect time limit to your Kiwi. For example, I was not able to connect because all the channels were busy. And I see from your entry on rx.kiwisdr.com that you do not have any time limit setup currently.

A time limit can be set on the admin page, "control" tab, in the two fields "inactivity time limit" and "24hr per-IP addr time limit". There is also a field "user exemption password" if you want someone who uses your Kiwi extensively, like a friend, to have an exemption from the time limit by giving the password when they connect.

But of course if you don't want to add a time limit you don't have to..

  • It is a good idea to set an inactivity time limit.

Otherwise, you will have people connect, and then leave their browser connected, even if they are not actively using the KiWi, and this prevents others from using one of the receivers.

I generally set a 15 minute inactivity time out, and a 120 minute 24hr per-IP address time limit

Based on feedback from some of my users, this seems to be the best compromise, and gives everyone a fair chance to use it.

    Regards,

    Martin
