off frequency [fixed]

edited December 10 in Problems Now Fixed

Hi all

I have been sus that my kiwi has been receiving a little off frequency so i tested it with a spectrum analyzer, this it the result off the test, Freq out put was set at 7200mhz, receive was 7199.92, See pic, Is there a place i can adjust this in SW ( the offset i found what min 1 hz so to much) or dose it have to be opened up? My output was checked on my FTDX10 and HP Spec Analyzer, all showed 7200mhz, just kiwi was off a little.

Thanks

  • Hi Steven,

two things come to mind that you should check:

    • Is your GPS reception okay? Look at the admin-tab "GPS", select "RSSI" graph. Are there enough green bars (= "good" satellites)? (On my kiwi, there are currently 10.)
    • Did you repeat your test with a received standard frequency signal on HF instead of a local source (for example, WWV on 10 MHz)?

    Regards,

  • I will check. Thanks

GPS is not right, ill move the GPS antenna and check again in the next few days, will report findings.

WWV is at 9999.90 on mine before fixing the GPS antenna

If you are unable to place the GPS antenna in a location where it receives enough sats to do a frequency cal then it is possible to do a manual calibration. Instructions are on the admin page, "config" tab, at the bottom of the page.

Also, try putting a piece of metal under the GPS antenna as a ground plane to improve reception performance. Some people have use a "cookie sheet" or something similar.

  • Thankyou, moved the antenna got the sats working and its fixed.

    Thanks again
