SNR measurement when antennas are grounded

edited November 9 in Feature requests

HI,

Now I am able to switch my antennas, I put ON the parameter "Ground antennas when no users connected".

I think this parameter is smart for having all the relays sleeping.

I noticed that the automatic SNR measurement still goes on but the results are around 3dB since there is no antenna connected to the Kiwi.

Then the WebSDR ranking goes down into the public list considering the reception is poor.

My request/proposal would be :

Either not run SNR measurement when all antennas are grounded and keep the last good one for the public list.

Or create a routine which would be something like :

  • chek if all antennas are grounded if no -> SNR measurement
  • if YES check why
  • if it is because of the parameter "enable thunderstorm mode" then no SNR measurement
  • if it is because of the parameter "Ground antennas when no users connected"
  • Then switch the default antenne ON
  • and run SNR measurement
  • switch the default antenna back off

I know this is a kind of draft but I think the whole idea is there.

  • Having the SNR measurement switch to the default antenna (or another one that is specified) makes sense. I have noticed that my uploaded SNR measurements vary, depending upon which antenna is selected by a user at the time of measurement.
