Antenna switch install

Hello,

I would like to put in place the antenna switch feature on my KwiSDR 2.

The main target is to be able to mix two antennas (1 vertical and 1 horizontal) on top of the possibility to simply switch.

Now start the questions ;o)))

I made the choice of getting a KMTronic UDP switch. Is this choice correct ?

How to connect my antennas and my Kiwi on this box since there is no plug ?

Should I connect directly coaxial cables on the box ?

How to connect the Kiwi as a common resource ?

I do not see really the whole picture ?

I need help on this matter, many tnx in advance.

We're talking about this in PMs. I didn't realize there was a 4-channel version of the KMtronic UDP. The driver was originally written for the 8-channel version. As long as they didn't change the UDP protocol on the 4-channel version it should work. The admin antenna switch page will still show 8 antenna slots, but that shouldn't cause any problems. Just only use slots 1-4.

Looking at their products page I see KMtronics also have 1-channel versions.

The switch uses bare wire screw terminals. So to connect to the Kiwi get yourself any sort of cable of the required length with an SMA-M connection on one end. Chop off whatever is on the other end and prepare bare wires on that end and connect to the switch common port.

  • Thanks for the explanations.

I received the 8 channels version.

So far I just connect it to the LAN, no physical connection to the KiwiSDR and...

I opened a discussion in the "Problems and issues" category

  • This is done, you can connect to it for testing mixing antennas.

A picture of how I did the hardware :
