Metal Case observation

There have been numerous threads and discussions about circulating currents and spurs and noise and the like.

I note that on the Seeed metal case, one of the endplates touches the ethernet connector along one edge. Is that intentional?

  • I think when the case was being tested it was found that grounding via that end (and fixings) gave the lowest noise in the test setup.

The problem is that it doesn't make very good or consistent metal to metal contact.

I found that if I 'wiggled' the Ethernet connector I got better or worse noise spurs, depending upon what was touching what. In the end I soldered a brass strip between the Ethernet connector screen and the brass mesh I used to cover the inside of the end plate.
