  • 30 min disconnection!?!?

Every KiwiSDR owner decides for him/herself how the server is used by visitors like yourself. If you don't like the setup, find a different KiwiSDR. Stop ranting, and move on.

  • Problem with massive RFI after changing router

First of all, make sure it's not the router's power supply. More often than not, a noisy router is not the router itself, but its PSU. If it is the same voltage, and the plug fits, try to power it up with the power supply from the router you replaced.

  • Kiwi Noise Floor

@kramcd not necessarily. Good linear PSUs are mostly noise-free. Moreover, many can be adjusted to the roughly 5.2-5.3 VDC ideal voltage. And while not "cheap", a Bel 3A power is only around 50-60 USD from Mouser, excellent value for money in my opinion. Tweakable voltage, and fires up the Kiwi every time without hiccups.

  • 9955KHz Australia?

According to shortwaveschedule.com, WRMI Australian DX Report.

  • sdr.hu is now REALLY closed for non-amateurs

Or so it seems, as I am now longer able to log into the account I have. It appears that someone (Retzler?) has an idea that only amateurs should be allowed to operate web receivers. Nothing wrong with amateurs, but the attitude behind the descision is flawed. It is prejudiced and discriminating. I am strongly tempted to remove my two Kiwis from sdr.hu, since the resource obviously doesn't want me there. And to be fair, right now I am deeply unmotivated to the whole idea of websdr, including my own.

  • SDR.hu closed to non-hams?

The requirements for the registration process has been the same all the time I think, the difference is that you can't access the site without being registered. When I signed up in 2017, I was allowed to register with a "shortwave call", basically SWLKQ40LS in my case, and I was admitted.

  • Antenna recommendation for listening to faraway DRM broadcast inside a city

Someone on an SDR facebook group reported good results with the MLA-30 a few days ago. Don't know his mileage though.

  • Antenna recommendation for listening to faraway DRM broadcast inside a city

I agree that the Alibaba "Megaloop" is probably not worth its money, even at that price level. However, my reference to Bonito was the NTi MegaDipol/MegaLoop, not the Chinese thing. People seem to think this is a Bonito brand. It isn't, and NTi is clearly marked on the box. Bonito merely sell them.

  • New Kiwi arrived to Arctic Norway

S/n 4340. Quite impressive! As usual I did a sensitivity measurement, and ended up at around -102 dBm on MW and LW (AM, 6 kHz bw, 400 hz 30% modulated signal). The Mayor has promised fiber this summer (it's local elections the coming autumn), so if he keeps his word I will have two Kiwis available, with antennas directed towards North America and towards Asia/Pacific.
