Auto operations don't function any more [4G + ipv6 problem fixed in v1.129]

edited September 2017 in Problems Now Fixed
I have noticed that auto operations such as:
- Daily restart
- Automatically check for software updates
- Automatically install software updates
do not function any more. I have to manually make the updates. I've noticed this problem some weeks ago, but I thought that it would be fixed with the next updates.
Has anyone else noticed the same problem?

  • v1.129 fixes an issue where a site with a 4G connection was having ipv6-related networking problems. This effected proxy registration and could very well cause trouble with software updates.

The v1.129 update went out a few hours ago and already 100+ site have downloaded it. So I don't think there is a problem with automatic operations in general. See if v1.129 works any better for you.

  • Hi and thank you for the answer,
I have already updated to 1.29, before this message (once more manually). Waiting for a new update to come, and then I'll check if auto update is working. Meanwhile, I'll expect today at 02:00 GMT that the server will auto restart, and I'll inform you.

"Daily Restart" has not restarted the Kiwi.
I'm waiting now for the next update to see if it will be auto checked and updated.
Is it something wrong with my settings?

It restarted at 05:20 UTC. See below. To keep all the thousands of Kiwis out there (there have been many more sold than what appear on sdr.hu) from hitting github.com all at once the updates and restarts begin at 02:00 UTC. But they are spread out over a 4 hour window based on the Kiwi serial number. I should edit the daily restart comment to make this more clear.

  • OK, I can see it, thank you!.
As I understood, the point is that the receiver has to be free from listeners, for the update to be downloaded, installed and then to restart the local server, and maybe this is the problem for some receivers that they are busy almost all the time......
  • Yes that is a possibility. Still, it seems most Kiwis listed on sdr.hu eventually get updated. Except for the few that are explicitly configured not to auto-update.

If an update is pending because the Kiwi was busy at the scheduled update time then the update will occur the very first time the Kiwi becomes free, i.e. it won't simply wait 24 hours until the next scheduled check.
