Strange CPU usage and cannot log on

edited August 2017 in Problems and Issues
Hello all,

I am have some strange issue with my kiwisdr - the site is remote but all my actions are performed on a windows pc  sitting at the same remote location  (access via teamview.)

I am getting this strange Beagle CPU 109741 and user 102936%

Picture here

I am also having trouble logging onto the admin page -  have to reload many times

I can SSH in all ok -

I have done a reboot and complete power down and back remotely.

I am all out of ideas?

Its like something in the files system is damaged

THanks Matt S

I've seen the CPU numbers be wrong for the first sample interval (they get updated every 10 seconds). But they should be okay after that. They are derived directly from /proc/stat. If you can ssh into the Beagle what happens when you type "cat /proc/stat"?

    root@kiwi:~/Beagle_SDR_GPS# cat /proc/stat

Not being able to load the admin page is strange. If you can bring up the javascript console window in the browser I'd like to know what errors it might be showing. Once you can get in you might look at the "log" tab of the admin page and see if there are any error-looking messages. You can do something similar by logging into the Beagle with ssh and typing "cdp" then "ms" to look at the log that way.

You could just re-flash the Beagle from the sd card. But then you lose all your configuration settings which is unfortunate.

Was it working okay prior to this?

  • HI thanks for the feedback

Is it possible for me to reflash the card using the beagle itself without changing the SD card  (its a remote site)

    THanks.

    Here is some info

  • Hi Matt,

    /proc/stat looks okay.

Could you email me at support@kiwisdr.com ?

If possible I'd like to Teamview into the PC and then ssh into the Beagle and look around a bit. It's possible this is some problem like a full filesystem or the server restarting over and over again in a loop for some reason (we've seen both in the past).

There is no process I know of to re-flash the filesystem over the network from a program running on the Beagle booted from the same filesystem (it would be nice though). I've always had to re-flash after booting from an inserted sd card, which as you point out is a big pain for Kiwis locate at remote sites.
