KiwiSDR stops unexpectedly

Hi all. I'm facing with a new problem. Sometimes my KiwiSDR is stops working. The unit is visible on the network, but web acces and SSH showing network connection error. The only thing that helps is the manual restarting. How can I solve this?

  • You say "showing on the network", but does being in that list mean it has actively responded to a ping (or something else) at that moment? Or is that just a table from a router that might have a stale entry from the last time the Kiwi was seen?

What is the status of the LEDs on the Kiwi when it's not talking? Do you have both green and yellow LEDs lit on the Ethernet RJ45 connector?

Look at the 4 blue LEDs above the 5V DC input jack (assuming this is a Kiwi-2). They're mounted on the bottom of a PCB so a little hard to see unless you hold the Kiwi up and look underneath.

There are two possible patterns that could be displayed.

    • If the Kiwi software is running the LED pattern will match what's described here: http://kiwisdr.com/info/#id-leds
    • If the Kiwi software is not running, but Debian is, then the LED closest to the outside of the case will "double flash" every one second.

If you don't have any LEDs lit then then the Kiwi powered down because a momentary current spike probably caused the input voltage to drop below the minimum 4.7V. This can be due to an insufficient power supply or ALSO an insufficient power cable, even if the power supply is fine. See here: http://kiwisdr.com/info/#id-power-undervolt

  • Was there ever a resolution to this?
