I'm surprised this months-old post has no replies. This annoys me as well - increasing or decreasing the filter bandwidth should only move one end of the filter (the one farthest from the carrier) in LSB/USB/SAL/SAU mode.

Thanks for the tip! I've got several dongles that work fine with 2.4 GHz wifi, but I'm hoping for 5.8 GHz with external antenna jacks. Those are rare, but I have a Panda Wireless PAU09 N600 that fits the bill and has worked for me without custom-com…

The mmc0/mmc1 thing might have just been the result of a kernel update or something. It was definitely the other way around when I was running Debian 8.

Hi! Just writing to let everyone know that I did this upgrade today and it went pretty smoothly. I have only one complaint - the line that says: cd /media/sd_boot/root/.config should instead read: cd /media/sd_boot/root/kiwi.config Aside from that t…

Thanks! I do hope that maybe in the future you'll reconsider decoding those messages, though - they could be some of the most interesting. I do understand the concern about liability, but it seems you'd be several steps removed from anyone doing any…

Holy crap, it WORKED! I removed that choke and just jumpered across the pads and my Kiwi is working once again! Thanks so much for the suggestion. I didn't have the proper tools to desolder the choke so I did the next best thing - snapped it off the…

I saw that choke on the board and wondered if maybe that was a point of failure. I'll see what I can do about checking those components. At least they're big enough for me to see!

I do the exact same thing as w6jhp and it works quite well for me. Very rarely do I find SSB voice on non-1 KHz steps, and when I do it's either someone with a radio (possibly an old one) that's not well calibrated, or they're exactly 0.5 KHz high o…

Regarding the Wellbrook ALA1530LN - I tried several antennas in different locations at my QTH including a random length of wire, a "Grove FlexTenna" (a short wideband dual-"random"-wire design), and a MLA-30 active loop before fi…

That frequency is apparently used by a German service called BitExpress. According to this, it transmits 24 hours a day in DRM at 1 KW.

"So my guess is that the changes to make the config files more readable has not properly handled all the weird Unicode that some people insist on adding to their customizations." - Is this why all my DX tags for Radio Martí turned into Rad…

You might want to try this Chrome extension, which disables the page visibility API. A lot of JavaScript code tries to be clever and do things differently depending on whether you can see, or not see, the page on your screen. It determines this with…

Sorry, I missed that thread. Thanks!

Are you sure you need that force-10M option? I tried enabling that and my Kiwi refused to talk to the network at all. I think at the time it was plugged directly into a 48-port Juniper switch, so no "Huawei junk" in this case, but it's pos…

I have never seen wideband FM outside of the VHF FM broadcast band. Where and when have you seen it on shortwave?
