Any idea how much attenuation in the MW filter, or a picture of return loss, etc? The protection circuit has a lot more to the description...curious about some of the MW filter specifics. Thanks for offering these! I had already ordered the protecti…

I've had the same issue with my KiwiSDR2 randomly freezing for all users at once. I at first thought it was my Kiwi's connection, but recently was on another KiwiSDR2 150 miles away from mine, and his froze while I was on it. When his froze, I IMME…

I've seen similar things on the charge controller side of it...power consumption of the controller seems to be minor in the scheme of multi-watt loads and panels above 20 watts or so. Same with snow and batteries... Lithium is great, but not much o…

Ahh, of course, it's all laid out there! Thanks! Mystery solved. :-) -Nate N8BTR

OK, did the journalctl and looked at it since before the last reboot. Dec 18 07:17:01 kiwisdr CRON[22610]: pam_unix(cron:session): session closed for user root Dec 18 07:40:06 kiwisdr kiwid[28278]: 1d:23:59:37.729 0... UPDATE: check scheduled …

@n8oou and @n6gn, Thanks for your thoughts and info! 12w is good to know. I figured 4.5 watts to keep the Kiwi going all the time, plus any voltage conversion losses.. My current Wifi link for it is known to be low power, 1.3 watts is one measuremen…

https://forum.kiwisdr.com/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/11297#Comment_11297 @n6gn Can you give any insight on power usage/needs for your Kiwi setup? I can easily measure what my Kiwi uses, but curious about solar panel size, battery size, charge c…

My KiwiSDR2 is on 1.699 yet. So the next time I'm on site there, in a couple weeks, I'll go ahead and let it update unless you say otherwise. Will there be any issue if I don't have 1.800 installed before 1.801 comes out, like trying to go from 1.69…

2nded... this is something I would use.

I'm curious to see the results of mixing as well. I've only seen one Kiwi with antenna mixing, I'd like to try more... I'm considering this possibility for mine in the future. -Nate N8BTR

Yes. In the admin panel, under the Security tab: "Number of channels not requiring a password even if password set. Set this and a password to create two sets of channels. Some that have open-access requiring no password and some that are passw…

I've had the same thoughts, and would find this useful...so 2nded! There are nodered flows out there that watch lighting reports from Blitzortung and shut off a relay when it gets too close. Right now, I do this manually, killing power to my Paradan…

Depends. Will you have a transmitter in the same area? If so, something to switch the Kiwi antenna out/to ground while transmitting is ideal. If it's on the same coax/antenna, you REALLY should switch out the kiwi. But if not feasible or easy, you …

Martin, Thanks for your input! I had wound the antenna coax, and then saw how much room there was left and added the 5V power wires... I knew keeping the 2 power wires bifilar was beneficial, but didn't realize running the coax bifilar with the…

I ordered 2 ethernet chokes here: https://www.kf7p.com/KF7P/RF_chokes.html One each of 31 and 43 mix, and then wound what I could with one 5 ft cable around both toroids separately. Today, I also wound some small coax and 16 ga wire for 5V power …

@jks Thanks! Rebooted just the Beagle last night, but still got the "child" errors. Unchecked the "Non-Kiwi connections (kiwirecorder, TDoA) can preempt autorun processes" box and that didn't seem to make a difference....although…
-
@HB9TMC , that was in reference to the web-based WSPR decoder versus the autorun version. I'm having issues with the autorun version that runs continuously in the background, basically. -Nate N8BTR

Further update....I think I only get the "child returned" warning on spots that don't upload properly... the ones I've caught that do upload properly don't seem to have this warning in the log. -Nate N8BTR

Oh man, I missed this board from @n6gn, had not seen that thread where it was posted! I'll have to keep that in mind if some of my CM interference is found to be coming through the antenna line. -Nate N8BTR
-
Thanks, @n6gn , I didn't think of touching the shields of each connection to see what's coming through antennas vs ethernet or the power cable! I'll play around with that the next time I get a chance. -Nate N8BTR

A bit embarrassing to realize this would have been the easiest way to answer my question.....myself! Thanks John! -Nate

Emailed you the info. -Nate N8BTR

So I updated mine to 1.690, and had the WSPR autorun going.... Uploading just fine. Stopped the autorun, started a WebRX session, and let the WSPR extension run for 10 minutes or so, just on 20M. Over 40 spots, and the log shows them decoding, but n…

My KiwiSDR2 has been down for a couple weeks now.....thanks to my remote Wifi switch losing connection I can't power cycle it. But I'll be at my 2nd QTH tomorrow evening so I can get it back going. If no one comes forward by this weekend, I can see …

Pretty extreme here in the midwest USA on 5/11 and 5/12 so far. NOTHING above 15 mhz on a nearby KiwiSDR. I just finished building a QDX transceiver, and was trying to diagnose why it wouldn't receive anything above 20m yesterday until I figured out…

Updates: Found this Acopian 2.5A module runs pretty hot. Talked to Acopian, and then meaured my current consumption more closely. They confirmed the 5EB250 is the hottest of their encapsulated supplies....but also would be fine, exactly what it was …

But the ISM band DOES overlap the CB radio band in the US, right?, So the bars should overlap, I'd think. Same wtih the 40M US ham band and 41M broadcast..... -Nate N8BTR

Yes, I believe reverse proxy is what you want and is the default. -Nate N8BTR

Interesting.... wonder whta the limter is.... a regulator? Transformer? The Acopian 5EB250 isn't plug and play, but DOES handle the current, and often isn't too expensive on ebay. I've seen them mentioned here before for other Kiwis... I've had ex…

Philippe, Thanks for your thoughts! Excellent point about the mains filter.... I plan to add one elsewhere in the line. My KiwiSDR and Ham radio items will probably reside in a shed at my cabin....and I'm thinking of putting a mains filter on t…
