40ft wow. Nice. With a mini whip that should be fine since its so ultra light. Littly pricey at $105 USD but worth it if it works.

I think I'm going to get a telescoping fiberglass mast to test this. I'll connecting the ground straight down and a short wire to my laptop from my back yard and see if there is any overload. It'll be lower to the ground. Now to find some good te…

But like I said my AM radio signals are -40's With a bandstop. I'm curious if I put 2 in a row if it would lower it further. I don't think so because it just impedes the same amount. Just a thought.

@W1EUJ I'm looking at your json and I noticed there are 0 fsk bookmarks. I'm having a hard time finding any fsk signals in North America so far that work. Have you ever found any?

Oh and thanks for the explanation G8JNJ makes sense.

Problem is finding a spot in the middle of your yard to ground it :)

Thanks for all your replies. Quite a bit to read. I'm thinking I need to start from scratch when it comes to electronics. Like back in school we did work on breadboards etc, but that was 25 years ago. I'd like to be able to build my own solution…

I think I saw that. I really need an electronics kit and a 101 on this. I mean I understand the principles of resistance and volts/amps. But never took any classes. The schematics usually are a little over my head.

That diagram there - the chokes are "as needed" right? Or do you need 2 for sure? Those brown lines above the "ground" symbol. What are they? Thinking of how I could ground coax without making another cut.

You know there are chat packages out there that all you need to do is add a small snipped of html at the very bottom just above and it'll add those chat features on the bottom right like you get on some websites. It basically redirects to their ch…

I wouldn't support IE ... don't bother! You are at the cutting edge of tech .. force people to get up to speed :)

Thanks G8JNJ - Like last night was trying to monitor Haarp from different locations and a lot of looking around flipping between 40-80M etc. I'll give it a try.

Daniel - you'd do it as an extension that opens the bottom left window (like Devl) but with a scrollable list of presets you can add with notes. Won't take up any more space than any of the other extensions

Ok its back up today. Was using it last night. AM filter is in and I put ferrite on the RG6. The OV is less prominent but still popping off at several spots. I noticed around 50Khz there is a massive unknown signal especially at night. Also at 4…

yeah it been rebooting. Going to get the wife to unplug

Yeah he said the conditions were not good there. More testing tonight.

Powernumpty Yeah I heard those braided grounds are much better. I'll look into those. The layout of my house isn't too great for vertical poles unless I get an 8ft Tripod and add another 16ft mast or something. I may need to put another separate…

Also follow the guy on Twitter he's pretty cool. We need more public experiments like this. The more data they share the better!

I didn't see it where I am at. But I tuned into a WSPR channel in San Fran and recorded this. Not sure if that is Haarp or not but its broadcasts were at the same times. https://clyp.it/myblnkpf

Ok so I applied my AM filter to it last night and it did improve things but I'm still in overload. If anyone wants to check.. I highly doubt it but I actually have 2 AM bandstops... and wonder if I put both of the inline if it would help. I'm a…

Also the presets could be done based on a cookie. Websdr has the "memories" section that really helps. No logging in needed. Site just remembers you and your prefs.

Yup SSL would give performance a hit. I 'm ok without it. Worst thing that can happen is it gets hacked and you reload it / patch it. Its already open to the public so I highly doubt anything beneficial to hackers anyway. So I guess I cancel tha…

Yeah looks like I'm going to need to scrap this method. If it doesnt like power cables nearby etc I'll need to build a different type of enclosure.

I actually have some ferrite on my power supply now and that did actually help a little but the actual ground wire is just a green copper wire I ran down to a metal spike I put a couple ft into the ground. I also tried mounting it in the actual ele…

                Many thanks!

Also @G8JNJ nice Websdr site. Very cool you have the funcube and ISS there.

Many thanks. I'm initially just going to use the AM filter entirely. Although I do like to listen into AM radio periodically I can do without it on this unit. I think it is killing all the signals below as well. The VLF LF sections are just noth…

Ahh you store is in a json file. Thanks! I'll take a look. Are you in the midwest?

If its linux and it has rsyslog loaded on it, yeah you should be able to just edit the config file and add the remote location. I just wonder if "upgrades" impact anything however.
