Definitely pretty cool. I want one. Gotta go find another kiwi on sale and try to justify the purchase to the boss lol
-
my issue is I like to leave a local radio station going in my lab but it times me out even though I'm the admin :)
-
Good idea. Free up some memory if its being loaded at all.
-
yep thats pretty much what I want to see :) Except the top bar showing the wrong bands. Thats really cool the entire airband.
-
I know you can build those probes but I'm having a hard time finding an assortment of them. I'm looking into getting a wireless scope for my lab. Know a good place to buy the commercial versions?
-
Oh really.... I may just pick up another one then! Thanks
-
Definitely not local interference :) Others picking it up the exact same but less strong and in some cases stronger nearby on other Kiwi units. The waveform best matches some Russian diplomatic channel.
-
Closest thing I've found in the right range is this https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/Russian_Diplo_VFT_PSK_64Bd I've been through the entire sigidwiki and thats the best match. Its definitely PSK. If its a Russian "diplomatic" channel th…

Been playing around with combinations of kiwis and tdoa and I managed to get a hit in the PA area but it didn't provide a heat map. https://www.google.com/maps/place/42%C2%B000'00.0%22N+79%C2%B000'00.0%22W/@41.69487,-78.6521691,8.5z/data=!4m5!3m4…

Also still cannot pinpoint the location of this signal because there are not enough receivers nearby for the tdoa. It definitely is within 200km of me. I've look at neighboring kiwis and they see it. I've seen other people from around the world …

Found the problem with the popping on and off. The actual power supply was a switching power supply I used. Put a new one in and it seems to be constant.
-
I'll check again and actually look at the fax it should have something identifying on it. Signal was in and out today
-
and just like that its gone.. and now back and never mind .. once it started broadcasting I recognized the sound and tried a fax. Yep its a fax..
-
Built in? Meaning I could just hook the antenna to the probe and use the sdr to find the signal?
-
Funny you should show that oscilloscope I've been looking at buying one on ebay (used) and start learning how to use them. Setting up your own probe sounds like a fun project. I think it could be related to ethernet because right now I'm keepin…

http://kiwisdr.dlinkddns.com:8073/?f=18668.54lsbz8 in PA sees it a few others as well but it gets weaker the further you go. My question would be how would you try to figure out what signal it is? What program would you use? You'd need to pipe …

narrowing bandpass did help at least I'm getting different results. I'm wondering if the mexico coord is basically the default for "I dont know". Trying to narrow down that one signal. Now its near Hawaii
-
Thanks no I didn't use that. It seems to show up all the time. I did turn down the bandpass and really expanded my range to try this time. I'm trying to locate the origin of t hat signal on the other thread.
-
Yes can confirm someone about 100km away seeing it too http://dentonhill-sdr.moses.bz/?f=18662.78usbz11
-
fyi this is what I've been getting I know separate problems I may post in another forum about it. (Image)

Ahh thanks my kiwi should be back up now. I was picking up some odd interference. I've noticed since I discovered the 12 v was too much for miniwhip the overload is gone. But since I switched to 5v at the lna I get periodic noise floor noise and …
-
ahh its just in the root dir.. I thought maybe I could just copy a bunch of different configs in there and just edit a config file to pick which one to load and restart the software like most programs it would be located in /etc Thanks I'll check it…
-
Just heard it transmit again its definitely digital.. periodically changes it tones
-
Whew that was close its back up and the signal still there 24.146.41.3:8073 Also Id put it online in the repo but when you sign up it demands a call sign. I don't have my ham license so I don't have one so I can't register it.
-
yeah def coincidence but also can't find the multimeter when you need it too :) I'm going to hack off one of my precious raspberry pi power supplies to see for sure
-
I'd share it but that signal actually either blew my kiwi or my power supply. I'm working on testing the supply now. I left the system on that channel it poof it went.
-
Anyone got a link on how to swap files? Like if I want to try one (I'm sure I can scp the file over) where do I place it, what config file do I edit? Or how do I restart services so that it uses the right file etc?
-
Found the issue. Its power related. It said 5-12V and I was using a 12v and I wired the AC right in the box I think it was too much too close. Ran a direct power cable to it and 5v 1amp and no more OV tonight..
-
Same problem again today. Needed to make clean to get it to run.
-
Yep mine is pinging but can't get in via web. So I could get into it via ssh and that seemed to fix it.
