Actually I came back after the weekend and I was picking up nothing almost as if the antenna wasn't there. Its definitely there and its plugged in. I even bypassed and used the antenna with my laptop and its getting good signals. So I bypassed …

Interesting to know a bout the airband. I didn't know and hadn't seen it before on sdrsharp. It all still is received well enough I was just concerned while labeling everything. The other question was - I found my power supply for the kiwi itsel…

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Micro-Charger-ATADU10JBE-i220/dp/B003KWNHJQ That is the power supply I'm using. It doesnt' mention anywhere on it that its 'switching'. Unless you were talking about the power supply of the kiwi itself?

Well I've got mine going only in the airband. Till a few kinks to work out. Unfortunatley there really are only 2 software products that'll give you the ability to be a little more flexible with the frequencies and thats openwebrx and websdr. I…

Good to know. I definitely still have some FM bleeding through so I've been trying to find a good bandstop on ebay that won't break the bank and is 75 ohms and comes with an enclosure (and doesnt ship from china)

Here is another stupid question. My cable is 75 Ohms and I see a nice filter for sale but it says 50Ohms. What is the rule of thumb on impedance? I know you want to match it all the way through but since this is just RX would it make a differenc…

Its funny because some of the channels and freqs are dead on.. others are offset. It isn't a progression one way or the other.
-
Also this will need to be fixed somehow (Image)
-
One other issue I've found are that some of the actual signals are slightly offset to the true channel and the manual channel entry box has got small so you can't see the actual tuned frequency. (Image)

Ok I just followed the instructions and edited the band plan .. with a little effort I have got it working. So it does in fact display 118-137Mhz as the air band. It does say "Amateur" at the end though and I did'nt specify that. Any wa…

I'll check. Not even sure how to determine whether its a switcher I just have a pile of 5v power supplies from various devices over the years. Do they usually designate on the supply with a sw or something (not at work can't check right now) I h…

http://www.hsmicrowave.com/ He made it custom for me. Nothing but the input, output and 2 poles to attach + voltage and ground. I just soldered a raspberry pi power supply to the terminals.

Managed to hack a way to get the fm bandstop inline and it helped a bit. Take a look for yourself though there is this HUGE area of noise I have no clue about. Shame there is no way of LIMITING the bandwidth. I really only need from about 119-1…

I purchased a 118-137Mhz to 10-29Mhz down converter. Ok so I've installed the down converter and soldered on a 5v power supply. It seems to work however I need to set the offset. Just plugging it in I'm picking up all sorts of aircraft very nice…

I've got a downconverter on the way. I'll let you know when I get it installed :)

Yeah its a nice building with a tower but adding the extra wires would definitely be something the owner won't want.
-
Thanks for the instructions. I'm experienced with linux so not a problem. Just figuring out which bands will be the issue :)

JKS yes so I'm limited as to what I can do for HF. I used this whip at home pretty well but it doesn't work well here. I knew it would be worse but not this bad. Any recommendations on anothe antenna to use? I won't want to use a g5rv because of…

Thanks for the replies. I'm not interested in doing WSPR for the higher freqs. Mainly just need to label everything I can pick up where I am. I have a discone on our tower that is picking up aircraft hundred and hundreds of miles away. Its amazi…

Yes metal above. No the wire runs into the util room where it goes to the LNA which is grounded directly to the water main. So I should splice at the base of the tower and ground it to the tower as well as at the LNA..

I had it on my roof at about 1/4 the height it is now. Had 2x better reception. There may be an active AM station nearby. It is possible I'm closer here than I was at home. I thought you needed a switching power supply for the lna to work righ…

I've been able to get my mini whip on our tower but the performance is horrible. I kinda expected this with a mini whip because the cable has to be strapped to the tower and that tower is conductive. But I thought since it would be so high and so …

Anyone have any luck finding someone who makes an upconverter? I'm really interested in covering the air bands with a kiwi.. I didn't see anything that was affordable and would work out of the box.
-
Exact same thing for me - the rule would be only admins could change the CF and full well knowing it would impact the other users. Example would be if I wanted a kiwi to monitor air band and nobody else was on and I wanted to switch to a scanner a…

Any chance of making a kiwi for uhf/vhf? I never have been able to figure out and find something that would upconvert from HF to UHF/VHF. I really would like to cover the air bands.

Also if you have a smart meter they broadcast your stats to local towers regularly. Some are cellular some are 900Mhz. Cellular being around 700Mhz

I've actually had ethernet noise, usb noise, you can even get electrical noise when your furnace turns on and off. Do you have a sump pump? It could be the "phase" of the electrical line your device is plugged into? Separate power plugs?

Mine are super low .. I'm in the middle of the house and cable isn't long enough to makeit outside... but I do get a couple sats inside..

Nevermind just caught up on the replies lol
