Hi Martin, I implemented a timeout, and that does indeed seem to be helping. Maybe they've gone off in search of other KiwiSDRs without timeouts they can hog :). Thanks for the suggestion!

When I've got the same bozos sitting on 11175 USB day after day, for hours, sometimes dozens of hours (the record so far is something like 56 hours straight), it's not a mistake. And yes, I know you can set time limits, but I try to avoid that as s…

I moved the bad 3615 KiwiSDR board to a known good BBG, and it's the same series of FPGA messages in the log at startup.
-
As it turns out, in my testing I did the opposite in fact, I put another (working) Kiwi board on this BBG, and it worked fine.
-
I checked the P9 header, pins 3 and 4 both have 3.4 V. I also checked voltages on the EEPROM, U301: 3.40 volts on Vcc pin 8, and the A2 and WP pins. Closer to 3.35 volts on the SDA and SCL pins.

It's surprising the FPGA could fail after something as basic as cycling power.

Rummaging around my junk boxes, I found yet another 5V power supply, rated 2.4A with a very beefy looking cable. 5V IN is 4.999 V 5VE 4.920 V 5V: 4.840 V Using it, I once again got the No Kiwi hardware error message, the log file does indeed have …

Any more suggestions of things to check?

I took the power supply/cable from the bad (serial 3615) Kiwi and using it with the good (serial 4759) Kiwi: VIn:4.88 5VE: 4.82 5V: 4.76 (all other voltages fine/not relevant so for brevity I will skip them) The Kiwi still works fine. Extra data:…

I took the power supply from this KiwiSDR (which worked fine before all this started) and connected it to known good KiwiSDR, and it comes up fine. I took the power supply from that working KiwiSDR, and used it with this one, the BBG booted, but whe…

Well this was interesting... I restarted it several times from within the ssh shell connection, no luck. Then I tried shutting it down, cycling power, and it came up! Something I will remember (or try to) for the next time this happens. 😀

This is great news, John! I sent you an email regarding a manufacturer possibility.

Per extension basis time limits would indeed be awesome.

KU4BY - I've had the Chinese bots many times, sitting on USAF frequencies as well. I have 7 KiwiSDRs here, and sometimes the bot(s) will be on all of them. They change IP addresses frequently, so it's a game of whack a mole. Besides tying up chann…

I've noticed a predilection for sitting on USAF frequencies. Right now I have one from 115.171.170.4, supposedly Beijing, China, sitting on 11175. Time for another entry in the local blacklist...

Once again I've had issues with a bot/user from China causing my KiwiSDRs to malfunction while in IQ mode, this time from 43.226.238.162 As he is changing IP addresses to evade my bans, I've now disabled IQ mode on the KiwiSDRs to see if that at lea…

I was using https://www.chatango.com/ for a while to implement a chat system. It worked, but was not used that much, so coincidentally I just removed it the other day.

I have lots of tall trees in my yard, great for hanging HF antennas, not so great for good GPS reception. I could never get decent GPS signals with the included hockey puck antenna, whether it was inside the house, or outside. I ended up getting a …

Is it still advisable to keep 34.0.0.0/8 35.0.0.0/8 blacklisted?
-
The ADC overflow count is a very handy addition, thanks for adding it!
-
" Perhaps it should also accept the time limit exemption password as that has become a de facto "privileged user" password." That would work, I think. Something more than the casual user, but less than an admin.
-
Thanks John, sudo su works.
-
Thanks for the quick fix, John, and all that you do! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
-
I just tried here, same result.
-
I ended up adding 34.0.0.0/8 35.0.0.0/8 to the blocked list on all KiwiSDRs hosted here.

I just sent you another email, John. I took the Kiwi offline as it is getting hammered again. I will put it back online when you get the email and reply.

I want to add.. the IP addresses in question all resolve to Google LLC. Not sure if they are Google itself (indexing bots, etc) or from services they rent out.

Just a server software restart, not a reboot of the system. I am sending you an email now to jks @ you know where
